An endless sea of grass stretches out in front of you, bathed in the silver light of the full moon. The wind gently caresses the grass causing it to ripple and sway like the waves on a lake. For the moment it is peaceful, the stars burn brightly in the sky and stretch as far as you can see. It's hard to believe a beautiful place such as this holds such a dangerous pack of wolves. The wolves of Leviathan are wild and untamed. No rules hold them, no pompous virtues or tangling morals get in their way. They are a tight knit group, some could even say family, that run wild and free. They do what they want, when they want and face any consequences as a united front with lethal fangs bared. These wolves have no problems killing or stealing, some even enjoy it more than outsiders think they should. From a young age they are trained to kill and more importantly to hunt. The wolves of Leviathan are fearsome hunters who love the thrill of the chase and the exhilaration of the kill. They are skilled at moving around unseen with only soft taunting laughter giving them away. These wolves will do anything to ensure their freedom. They murder, steal, cheat, lie, and will do anything to survive. They are spontaneous, dangerous, and quick witted. Living on an open plain has its disadvantages. These wolves have to be strong and clever or they would never survive in such a harsh environment. They celebrate strength in whatever form it takes. Their camp is a large, strange stone structure that is located in the interior of the plains. It is large enough to fit the whole pack with room leftover and the roof is pretty much intact. The wolves of Leviathan may not be the kindest or the most noble, they might not even be the strongest, but they are the fiercest. They burn with passion and desire. They accept all who prove themselves and once they set their minds to something they are a brutal force to be reckoned with. They are the beasts in the night hunting your every step, breathing down your neck and sending fear through your heart. They are the nightmares that haunt you and chase at your heels, never slowing or never leaving. They will chase you to the ends of the earth and drag you to hell.

Leviathan hosts various Fire Nights throughout the year. They happen in the dead of night across their whole territory with the main celebrations in their camp. Within various rock circles fires are lit. There is a magic about fire night, no matter the weather or conditions the fires will burn. While trespassing in leviathan territory is normally dangerous, trespassing on a fire night is a death sentence. Any wolf that does not belong to leviathan that is caught trespassing will be brought to the main celebration area where they will have to fight for their life or be ‘prey’ in the great hunt. Fire nights are when the wolves of leviathan truly let loose. Its when they become untamable forces of nature. Novices challenge each other in mock fights while adults engage in true combat. Wolves flirt, gorge themselves on food, and dance around after the Great Hunt. Sometimes pack wolves will volunteer to be the prey in the Great Hunt but most of the time it’s some poor captured loner. The ‘prey’ is given a few minutes head start before the pack gives chase. If the ‘prey’ can make it past the border or to the border before being caught they win and keep their life. If the prey is caught before than their life is forfeit unless they can fight and escape. When a pack member is the prey they don’t get killed but get punished for being caught or rewarded for escaping the hunt. Stories of past horrors and victories are told around the fires and it's not uncommon to see the plains spirits mingling with the living. The only indication other packs or wolves have that it is Fire Night is the seemingly never ending chorus of haunting howls, snarls, and screams that come from the territory along with the glow of the fires on the ocean of sweeping plains.

Inhabiting the plain with Leviathan are the Plain Spirits. The creatures of darkness leave Leviathan alone and the wolves of Leviathan leave them alone in return. The Plain Spirits are dangerous on a good night and lethal on a bad one. No one know exactly what they are and nobody dares bother them. They emerge at night to haunt the plains and hunt. Some appear as silvery ghosts while others appear as twisted dark creatures that resemble nothing anyone has ever seen. These creatures feed off of despair, horror, pain, agony, and really any dark emotion. While it hasn’t been observed there are whispered rumors of some Plains spirits feeding off of souls. While Plain spirits can’t physically harm a wolf they can trap them in a terrible hallucination where they are exposed to their greatest fears and regrets. The victims of the plains spirits are left hollow and drained, as if every emotion and drop of their spirit had been sucked from their body.

THE TERRITORY

Leviathan resides in an open expanse of grassy plain. It goes on as far as the eye can see with few trees dotting the landscape. Various grasses and shrubs provide minimal cover for predators and food for the large herds of bison and elk that travel through the plains. Winters are especially harsh and summers unbearably hot. Separating Leviathan from the other packs is a large cliff face. The other packs reside on the elevated ground before the cliff. If you travel far enough along the cliff face there are spots where it is eroded away for a nice and gentle decent but the few ways up and down the cliff within the territory are narrow paths snaking upwards. Leviathan have claimed a small patch of woods on top of the cliff before the sudden drop but they don’t use it for much. A dangerous river snakes along the bottom of the cliff and is a constant source of water. Small ponds and lakes are scattered within the plains but most dry up during the summer. The plains are filled with dangers, poisonous snakes, plain cats, and rampaging bison to name a few.
